Laxman of ICF and WGM Marry Ann Gomes of West Bengal continue to lead the field along with IM Himanshu Sarma of Haryana, IM BT Muralikrishnan of Railways, IM Atanu Lahiri of LICI and former champion Arindam Mukherjee with four points each after completion of 4th round in 4th Jugal Kishre Newatia Memorial International Rating Tournament organized by Lions Kamarupa in Terapanth Bhawan, Guwahati. In the top board GM Laxman beat Himal Gusain of Chandigarh with white pieces. But second seed GM Sriram Jha of LICI is held to draw by FM Diptayan Ghosh of west Bengal. The youngster played 47 moves before signing peace treaty. WGM Marry Ann Gomes of West Bengal gave no chance to her unrated opponent Suman Shreshtha of Nepal and beat him with black pieces. Im Himanshu Sharma of Haryana beat Rajkumar Appolosana of Manipur from white side of Ruy Lopez opening. IM BT Murali Krishanan beat Hemal Karsanji Thanki of Gujarat and IM Atanu Lahiri accounted for WFM Swati Mohota of West Bengal. IM GB Prakash survive some anxious moment against lowly rated H.D. Sutnga of Meghalaya and offer him draw but Sutnga played for win and eventually lost the game after 66 moves. Arindam Mukherjee beat Niraj Narual of Nepal to be in joint lead with 4 points.
GM Sriram Jha of LICI, FM Diptayan Ghosh of West Bengal, IM Akshayraj Kore of Maharastra IM Suvrajit Saha of Railways, Former champion Arjun Tiwari of Maharastra , Santu Mandal of West Bengal, Amardeep Bartakke of Maharastra , Naveen Hegde of Karnataka, Rajib Dhar of Assam , Naveen Tandukar of Nepal and Subir Lama of Nepal are in second position with 3.5 points after completion of 4th round. IM Aksayraj Kore was held to draw by Santu Mandal and IM Suvrajit Saha was held to draw while Naveen Hegde held former champion Arjun Tiwari to draw. Rajib Dhar of Assam beat Subrata Baishnab also of Assam and Naveen Tandukar got better of Swaraj Palit of Jharkhand and Subir Lama accounted for D.K. Chopra of Delhi.
Rajib Dhar, Madhab Sarma, Nandan Buragohain, Mausam Kalita, Dangmei Bosco, Abdus Sidique and Mahaswta Kumar are leading the challenge from Assam. Rajib Dhar who beat Subrat Baishnab of also of Assam shares the second position with 3.5 points drom 4 round. Madhab beat satabdajit Baruah, Nandan beat Biswajit Das also of Assam, Mausam Kalita beat Aminjyoti Dehingia of Assam, Dangei Bosco beat Chraranjan Bhuyan of Assam, Abdus Siduque beat Dimbeswar Taye of Assam and Mahasweta Kumar accounted for Prakash Nepal of Nepal and scored 3 points each from 4 rounds.
