Rambir Memorial Chess

In memory of Late Rambir Shrestha, founder secretary of Nepal Chess Association (NCA), The Himalayan Chess Club of Lalitpur organized an open chess tournament in Lalitpur. The tournament named “Rambir Memorial Open Chess Tournament” has started today as the 3rd rating event in ongoing year 2011.The 2nd series of competition inaugurated by General Secretary of Nepal Olympic Committee Jivan Ram Shrestha. Co-ordinator of tournament Herakaji Maharjan said that around 100 players are participating on the event from Sri Lanka, India and the various part of the country Nepal. The total amount of cash prizes is Sixty-Five Thousand Nepalese Currency. The main sponsor of the event is Our Housing Company. Tournament will be played 10 rounds as per the Swiss System and completes on 29th of March. Defending Champion of the competition is Candidate Master Uttamraj Thapa of Nepal.
