CM Thapa Clinches the Martyrs' Cup 2011

Candidate Master Uttamraj Thapa of Tanahun district clinches the title of Martyrs' Memorial Open Chess Tournament by defeating Lalitpur's Herakaji Maharjan in the tenth and final round at Taleju Party Palace, Makhan Galli. In the 8th round Thapa beat Niraj Niraula of Jhapa and drew with Boys Union Club's Rajan Puri in the 9th yesterday. He finished the tournament with unbeaten eight points out of ten and pocketed 20 thounds rupees.
Niraj Niraula of Dhruba Tara Sporting Club Jhapa placed second position with 7.5 points. National Champion Badrilal Nepali & Fide Master Manish Hamal holds the third & fourth position respectively with 7.5 points. In the final round Niraj beat Rajan Puri of Boys Union. FM Hamal holds National Champion Nepali in draw.
